HOURS: Permanent Full Time 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday days. Our services include emergency food transitional housing and education for homeless and street-involved youth; hospice palliative care; community mental health programs; and supportive housing programs. We are committed to integrating Harm Reduction practices into our programs and to prioritizing the rights, dignity, and choices of those who use substances. By integrating a Harm Reduction framework at Good Shepherd, we can decrease barriers to service and better support some of our community's most marginalized members. This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd - Martha House How You Will Make an Impact The Cook / Housekeeper enhances the dignity and quality of life of our clients through the assumed responsibility for housekeeping and food preparation services by ensuring the overall cleanliness and respectful appearance of the facility, maintaining adequate supplies for housekeeping and meal preparation, as well as providing healthy meals. Hospitality and availability is aided by providing an environment that is welcoming and hospitable to clients. The incumbent must also be able to demonstrate flexibility in the carrying out of the work in response to client and organizational needs and must be able to adapt to the changing needs of a diversity of clients accessing service. Responsible for hospitality services including: cleaning and sanitization of common areas, offices, and program spaces as well as facility laundry Provide support, where required, to meal planning, preparation and serving Ensure adherence to occupational health and safety regulations, corporate and program policy Hospitality and availability are aided by providing an environment that is welcoming and dignified Must also be able to demonstrate flexibility.
