Senior Library Assistant - Youth & Family Services Astoria, Oregon The Astoria Public Library is looking for an outgoing and professional individual to join our team as a Senior Library Assistant responsible for Youth & Family services collection and programming. This position plays an important role in ensuring a positive experience for children, teens, families and caregivers by promoting library services, providing engaging programming and connecting patrons with just the right book! SCHEDULE The regular schedule for this full-time position is Tuesday - Saturday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM KEY QUALITIES Ability to provide excellent customer service to a wide variety of library users. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Working knowledge of the recreational reading interests and curriculum-related information needs of youth from babies through teens. Experience working with children and working knowledge of infant, child, and adolescent development. Considerable knowledge of the practices of library science; reference tools; integrated library systems; computer applications. Experience with computer systems (Microsoft, Internet, and online databases) to create correspondence, reports and presentations. Ability to operate, or learn to operate library computer software systems, library-related databases and social media, and ability to problem solve and troubleshoot same. PAY $20.69 - 25.15 per hour. Pay rate will be dependent on experience.
