Job Summary Professional who assists families living as domestic church; focuses on ministries that assist struggling families; assures the connection between family life and evangelization and Christian service; facilitates the use of existing parish programs and events as opportunities for families to encounter Jesus anew, grow daily as his disciples, and give witness to the power of His mercy; promotes and supports vocations; works closely with Discipleship Formation staff, helping to move individuals and families from the "encounter" stages of evangelization into the "grow" and "witness" phases of discipleship formation. Works to bring the "good news of the family" to all parishioners, including single persons of all ages. Understands the significance of cultural diversity in evangelization and ministry.KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS (KRA)Leadership - supervises or serves as liaison to the following ministries: Early Childhood Development Center Adult & Family Minister Children & Youth Minister Infant Baptism Marriage Preparation Marriage Ministry Family Ministry Family Support Groups Childcare Programs and Activities Essential Job Duties Welcomes new families and connects them to ministries. Connect with current families with the goals of building bridges of trust and assessing needs for consideration of future ministry. Plans family activities that support the domestic church, such as, but not limited to: Pet Blessing in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, Breakfast with Santa, Stations of the Cross in Lent, and Advent and Lent celebrations. Provides resources and workshops to families to equip them to build the domestic Church throughout the stages of family life. (i.e., Christian parenting, couple prayer, etc.) Forms and maintains family discipleship groups. Implement and support small groups that nurture discipleship formation. Provides support for families in difficult circumstances (bereavement, divorce, widowed, infertility, addictions, immigration, blended families, children with special needs, etc.). Develop a business plan for the growth and sustainability of the Early Childhood Development Center with the goal of service to community families and support of the domestic church. Serve as a resource in various parish adult formation groups, including: Bienvenidos Retreats Movimiento Familiar Cristiano Grupo de Oracion Via Crucis Guadalupanas Divine Mercy Cenacles Promotes and supports a culture of vocations. All areas of responsibility extend to church and school families as well as families and individuals within our parish boundaries. Early Childhood Development Center Coordinate and maintain annual licensing requirements with applicable state agencies. Maintain accreditation with appropriate state and national agencies. Ensure consistent compliance with all state regulations governing childcare centers Ensure profitability and maximum enrollment Develop tuition for the Center in collaboration with the Pastor and Chief Operating Officer Set the calendar for ECDC and all parish childcare availability Update staff and parent handbooks as necessary. Ensure ECDC teacher development. Maintain appropriate personnel files in accordance with state regulations and in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer. Develop annual budget with the Chief Operating Officer. Sacrament Preparation - Infant Baptism, Marriage Infant Baptism Establish and update infant baptism program as necessary. Oversee catechesis for parents and godparents. Marriage Establish and update the marriage preparation program as necessary. Develop curriculum of class topics. Oversee intake of registration forms. Provide confirmation letter and pertinent instructions to engaged couples. Provide adequate formation for those needing annulments. Administration Coordinates the recruitment, training, and support of volunteers. Assesses effectiveness of services provided to families. Prepares and maintains the annual budget for Family Ministry. Other duties as assigned. Provides strategic direction to the above ministries. Maintains a safe environment for childcare as prescribed by EIM. QUALIFICATIONS Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (SKA) Understands the role of family as domestic Church within the mission of evangelization. Mission driven and a creative problem solver. Understands Catholic teaching on evangelization as presented in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the documents of Vatican II, Papal encyclicals, documents of the USCCB, and other relevant Church documents. Has good verbal and written communication skills. Has good interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style. Ability to operate various word-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs. Ability to collaborate effectively with others (staff, clergy, religious, and laity). Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Ability to organize, prioritize, and utilize effective time management techniques. Ability to maintain respect at all times. Ability to follow instructions furnished in verbal or written format. Demonstrates a commitment to high professional ethical standards. Has organizational skills required to manage many people and projects. Charisms Passionate about nourishing and supporting families. Possesses some of the following charisms: Administration, Encouragement, Healing, Pastoring. Education, training and/or experience Bachelor's degree in Catechetics, Early Childhood Education, social work, or related field. Leadership experience in a professional childcare or school setting. Experience in providing pastoral support. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Experience in staff management. Must be a practicing Catholic in full communion with the Catholic Church. Licenses/Certifications: Valid Texas driver's license. Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period. Ministerial Character The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish (St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School - Austin, Texas) which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ's mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clergy and lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.Positions employed at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School - Austin, Texas help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. The parish is an at-will employer, which means the employment relationship can be terminated at any time, with or without notice, by either the employee or the employer. All buildings and vehicles owned by the parish are tobacco free. Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly. Working on weekends, evenings, and some holidays may be required. Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech including Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations. Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards. May be required to use personal or parish vehicles to drive to off-site locations. Travelling within and outside the parish to meetings and other events may be required, and travel may include overnight lodging.
