We have an opening on our team for a Part-Time Male* Direct Support Professional (DSP). The DSP provides direct care and support to Individuals with developmental disabilities, and empowers them to achieve their highest level of independence through high-quality and diverse support services. They operate collaboratively as a member of a team working to promote a normalized lifestyle where Individuals are valued, fully participating citizens within their community. They challenge Individuals to expand upon their capabilities, while encouraging and facilitating Individuals to have typical, appropriate life experiences within their home and community, in a manner which maintains dignity and respect. The Direct Support Professional (DSP): Guide, support, and empower individuals to greater independence Encourage and facilitate community connection for the purpose of building meaningful relationships with others in their community Observe, encourage, and record the individual's progress toward established goals Assist Individuals with daily life activities including (but not limited to) personal care and hygiene, medication administration, general housekeeping, shopping, recreational and social activities Provide physical and emotional support to each individual served Complete required documentation to standard, in a timely fashion within established guidelines Aid and assist with skills which develop self-help, self-determination and self-advocacy Participate in activities or programs to encourage enjoyable and constructive use of time Assist in maintaining a safe, clean and comfortable living environment by performing general housekeeping duties, which may include making beds, cooking meals, laundry, care of equipment, etc. Observe, evaluate and document behaviors and activities for the purpose of continuous improvement Actively participate in trainings and meetings Work independently and collaboratively with other Direct Support staff to achieve short- and long-term goals Demonstrate kindness, patience, and Chariton Valley Association's core values of compassion, advocacy, respect, responsibility, and encouragement in all aspects of daily work Exhibit professionalism and reliable attendance Demonstrate effective, courteous, and professional communication Requirements: 18 years of age, or older. High School Diploma or equivalent Valid Driver's License Valid Car Insurance Reliable Personal Transportation Physical ability to push, pull or lift 15 to 20 lbs. regularly Salary : $17.00/hour up to $20.00*/hour, and raise at 6 months. * Shift differentials apply Job Type: Part-Time up to 29 hours per week.
