Youth Mentor Coordinator (Part-time)

The International Institute's Youth Mentor program addresses the academic, vocational, and emotional support needs of refugee youth and young adults and promotes their positive civic and social engagement through community-based volunteer mentors. The Youth Mentor Coordinator facilitates this program to meet refugee youth and young adults' unique needs. Duties/Responsibilities Recruit refugee youth ages 15‑24 for participation in the Youth Mentor program Conduct initial assessments of participants. Develop an individualized plan centered around participant's interest Recruit, screen, and vet mentors Conduct mentor training Match mentor to mentee based on mentee's interest Provided transportation and oversight for mentee participation in IISMO youth programming Organize mentee participation in a youth leadership workshop Attends weekly project meetings Collect weekly mentor confidence scale assessments Data entry of weekly mentor confidence scale assessments Complete monthly program evaluation and Reporting Contribute to an environment that fosters the organization's mission, teamwork, effective communication, responsiveness, and service to the clients and to the community. Ensure that the mission, programs, products, and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image. Perform other appropriate duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational skills Ability to work autonomously and be directly accountable for youth programming Leadership abilities including time management, problem solving, decision making, priority setting and work organization Ability to prioritize, effectively manage multiple projects concurrently, and take ownership of work. Ability to work independently and as part of a team as necessary. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external customers. Ability to maintain confidentiality of company information. Must be meticulous, but able to maintain a balanced perspective in rapidly changing business circumstances. Ability to work productively in a multicultural environment and demonstrate respect for differences. Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft 365. Ability to approach and resolve problems in a detail and solution-oriented manner. Other Must have a car and a valid driver's license with proof of insurance Willing to acquire a class E driver's license and drive a shuttle or van. Education and Experience Minimum of 90 college credit hours towards an education or social work degree Preferred fluency in Swahili, Russian, Pashto, Dari or Chin The above statements describe the job's essential responsibilities and requirements.
