Compensation and benefits: $55-65K starting salary, $75 monthly phone allowance, $450 monthly car allowance, parking pass, SIMPLE retirement plan with 3% employer matching, health insurance, flexible schedule.CommuniCare is not a traditional philanthropic grantmaking program. It is a youth education and leadership program where students are the grantmakers, supported by their teacher advisor and a CARE Foundation staff member.Students begin the year by selecting a community issue or service area they feel passionately about. Groups are guaranteed $7,500 from The CARE Foundation for their grantmaking and can double those funds by raising an additional $750, which CARE matches 10:1, up to a maximum gift of $15,000. Students spend the rest of the school year completing the grantmaking process - learning more about their service area, evaluating grant requests from local nonprofits, meeting with representatives from those organizations, and deciding which to fund. It is a wonderful mix of interpersonal skills, communication, and critical thinking.Although the core elements of the program are consistent across partnerships, student groups vary widely in their enrollment, settings, and needs. Our school partners are predominantly located in the Portland Metro area, although we also serve Clatsop, Umatilla, and Marion Counties.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS: Effectively promote the CommuniCare program to students, teachers, school administrators, nonprofits, and community members Support a portfolio of school partnerships through the grantmaking process: visit groups throughout the year to build relationships and sit in on meetings, facilitate whole-class grantmaking activities, and give presentations on various program-related topics expertly facilitate the use of all documents and content in our Resource Binder quickly solve problems as they arise, including answering student and teacher questions with timely email and phone correspondence, providing feedback and suggestions, and proactively creating and adapting resources to meet groups' needs co-plan with teachers, as requested, and provide special assistance during fundraising activities follow the program calendar, collect deliverables from groups, track the progress of each group, and record group observations based on internal rubrics offer extra support or encouragement to student groups, student leaders, or teachers, as necessary Provide administrative support during the Public Submission Window, including processing grant applications for student review and data entry Ensure set-up of large-scale program events and meetings - including Advisor Kickoffs, Arts Experiences, and Grant Awards Ceremonies in the Portland Metro area, Clatsop County, Marion County, and Umatilla County Gather program documentation (photographs, testimonials, etc.) and help create social media content based on marketing calendar and brand guidelines Complete administrative functions in a timely manner, including filing/scanning documents, answering emails, data entry, and processing invoices Additional duties and special projects as assigned for The CARE Foundation EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:Our desired applicant is passionate about youth education and wants to actively work with teens and teachers. They are also a polished professional who can switch hats depending on the needs of the audience. We succeed when our participants succeed, so a student-first mindset is deeply important for this role, along with flexibility, creativity, and a "fail forward," solution-oriented attitude. Minimum of two years of middle or high school classroom teaching experience Additional work experience in a nonprofit setting is a plus, having first-hand experience of the unique challenges nonprofit organizations face Organization - proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of juggling multiple tasks and timelines Interpersonal - intuitive, empathetic, cooperative, dependable Communication - excellent verbal and written communication, comfortable presenting to large groups in person and remotely. Spanish fluency is a plus. The ability to work independently, set and meet deadlines, take initiative, and give/receive constructive feedback Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Zoom, Google Drive, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Adobe Express and InDesign a plus.
