Location: 901 N Cameron Street Harrisburg, PA Pay: $14.90/hr at time of hire, $15.73/hr after 90 days w/ regular DL $16.38/hr at time of hire, $17.29/hr after 90 days w/ CDL class A or B, Passenger Endorsement and Air Brake Restriction lifted NO WEEKENDS! Monday-Friday schedule. Flexible schedules available. *Please note our employees have the option to attend paid training & receive tuition assistance to obtain their full CDL. Role in organization: The position is critical in assisting Cumberland Dauphin Harrisburg Transit Authority in meeting our mission of mobility. This position is responsible for operating a van/bus to transport passengers in a safe and courteous manner according to the daily manifest. The driver is responsible for driving defensively and reacting to emergency situations to ensure the safety of the passengers and the safety of the general public. Work includes completion of vehicle inspections, maintaining accurate records, assisting passengers as required including wheelchair securements, receiving and accounting for fares, radio communications, following emergency procedures, and other activities as assigned by the Paratransit Supervisor, Scheduler, Dispatcher and or Operations Manager. The operator is responsible for meeting all attendance requirements according to bid, CBA policy, and safety emergency response situations. Available for forms of other transportation systems as needed. rabbittransit is a County Emergency responder. Some of the essential knowledge, skills, abilities and experience: Prefer High School diploma or GED equivalent. Prefer job related experience. Ability to apply critical thinking and common sense understanding to carry out transportation services. Ability to keep mentally alert and maintain concentration. Knowledge of safe driving practices and demonstrated ability to operate and drive transit vehicles in a safe manner. Ability to understand and adhere to Authority rules, procedures, directions, funding guidelines, DOT regulations and PA traffic regulations. Ability to work bid runs, variable shifts, and irregular hours. Available for work/overtime in accordance with bid (if applicable), CBA (if applicable), policy and response to emergency situations. Must have regular attendance and punctuality. Must meet hiring qualifications including but not limited to, minimum of 21 years of age, acceptable driving record and background verification in accordance with rabbittransit standards. Certificates and Licenses Required: For Non-CDL Operator (specific to division) must possess valid motor vehicle operator's license that is not under suspension or revocation, and possess current automobile insurance coverage. For CDL Operator wage (specific to division) must possess valid Commercial Driver's License class "A" or "B" operator's license with passenger endorsement and air brake restriction lifted that is not under suspension or revocation and possess current automobile insurance coverage. Must possess a valid DOT medical card. (Will send for such if given contingent job offer.) This is a safety sensitive position subject to US DOT Drug and Alcohol pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and return to duty testing.
