Thompson Engineering is looking for a Building Envelope Inspector for our Mobile, AL office. Building Envelope Inspectors provide professional services in the field of Building Envelope, including moisture control, and waterproofing. Inspectors review and interpret construction documents, contracts, codes, construction methods, and safety regulations. Job Duties: Conduct on-site QC/QA observations and inspections of various components of the building envelope during and after construction for quality and conformance to specifications, codes, and schedules. Use and operate various equipment such as ladders, aerial lifts, and swing stages to gain access to different components of the building envelope and structure, including being able to comfortably and safely perform work at elevated heights. Prepare computer generated professional reports to document general observations, conclusions, and recommendations for all services. Confer with Supervisory personnel, Clients, Contractors, and Design Professionals to discuss and assist with the resolution of matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems. Assist with identifying and developing contacts that meet identified client targets to increase sales of services. Help to establish and maintain relationships with new and existing clients and contractors for the purpose of general business development and marketing of services. Adhere to the established Thompson Engineering Quality and Safety Procedures and general culture in all projects and daily work activities. Participate in continuing education programs to achieve and maintain required industry registrations and certifications. Minimum Requirements: Minimum of two (2) years of general construction experience or in a construction related fields High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license with good driving record Pass drug test and background check Must be proficient in generating documents and navigating within Word and Excel computer programs. Communicate effectively and in detail with others both written and verbally Physical requirements Must be willing to work flexible schedule and overtime as needed Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 70 lbs. Ability to buddy lift and carry up to 100 lbs. Be familiar with small construction tools able be able to use them comfortably and safely Walk, stoop, bend, and climb up and down stairs and ladders Stand, walk and balance in irregular and uneven terrain and surfaces such as sloped roof areas. Ability to work at extremely high elevations including working on roofs or from aerial lifts, swing-stage platforms and other equipment needed to access elevated sections of a building Ability to work outside for extended periods in the heat and cold Ability to wear appropriate PPE for hazardous materials About Us Thompson Engineering was formed in 1953 to provide quality assurance for construction projects related to industrial, infrastructure, and community development.
