JOB REQUIREMENTS Two-year certificate in machine tool technology and/or 5 years of machining experience Knowledge and proficiency with CNC machining operations and manual machining Skills: mathematics, troubleshooting, monitoring, control, and tool selection Self-motivated, dependable, detailed, and thorough Strong active listening and critical thinking skills Ability of operation monitoring Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members THE DAY TO DAY As a machinist, you will set up and operate CNC mill, lathes, and other production equipment. You will apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures. You will be responsible to take care of your machine and ensure it is operating well. Tooling is often used to complete your task. You'll want to monitor and adjust the feed and speed of your machine to ensure a quality product is produced. Other things you could be doing are: Perform precise measurements by calculating dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials into machines Inspect final products.
