We hope you will decide to join our family of dedicated employees. Duties and responsibilities Collaborate to oversee the development of new products for home and gift lines. Research and monitor existing customer base and industry developments and identify potential new opportunities. Attend sales meetings and relay the information to design team members. Create specs and preparation of design packets to go overseas. Conduct daily email follow up with overseas vendors. Responsible for receipt, review and corrections of samples. Add design and style input to showrooms, market space layouts, and catalogs. Attend industry market shows in the U.S. at the discretion of the leadership team. Create new, original print and pattern samples for target market, target Brands, and analyze financial metrics. Conduct research to support print designs and color patterns, report industry print and art related trends, color direction and technique innovations. Maintain up to date knowledge of trends in new fabric design and production technique terminology by forecasting, visiting site locations, internet resources, etc. Communicate with manufacturers on print execution, approve strike offs and knitdowns for print and pattern. Assist in the product ideation and conceptualization process for new products (market research, competitive analysis, storyboards, obtaining benchmarks and product briefs) Develop and maintain product launch calendar and communicate timelines and product specifications to relevant internal teams such as Marketing, Sales, Importing, and Warehouse. Demonstrate a commitment to C&F Enterprises, Inc. core values. Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary. Skills Creativity and design abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills Possess analytical thinking and problem solving skills Time-management, organizational and attention to detail skills Extensive experience in the textile, home furnishings, home décor, and gift industry. Strong anticipation of trends Ability to work both independently and with design team Competencies Team Player Maintain stable performance under pressure Takes Initiative Results driven and a keen eye for detail Positive, can-do attitude Qualifications A bachelor's degree in applied sciences, clothing, textile, gift and/or related field with an emphasis on Product Development, preferred. 3-10 years or more of professional experience in fabric design with a strong portfolio Ability to use creativity and innovative means to achieve results Experience with Product Development cycles Proficient in Microsoft Windows; advanced in Microsoft Excel Must be highly skilled in Adobe IllustratorCS5 and Adobe Photoshop CS5 Ability to work in a fast paced environment Ability to work extended hours when/if workload required Must be able to travel as needed. Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary. Physical requirements Sitting, Standing, and Walking Carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 40 lbs.
