The Clinical Supervisor provides first-line operational supervision of the delivery, implementation and evaluation/improvement of direct patient care emergency medicine and nursing services and personnel in assigned functional unit/area(s) within a 24/7 Emergency Services Department. The nursing supervisor is responsible for the supervision of all nursing and unit-based personnel and the provision of a safe, caring environment for patient/family and staff which fosters professional nursing practice, shared decision-making, interdisciplinary teamwork and collaboration resulting in positive patient and staff outcomes. S/he assists Department Director in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and monitoring policies and procedures, budgets and the allocation of resources, continuous quality improvement initiatives, educational programs and shared governance/shared leadership councils to achieve departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Provides nursing care as needed for age-specific patient population. Oversees productivity and day to day operations. Essential Responsibilities Supervises the day-to-day operations and delivery of emergency nursing and patient care services including clinical practice standards, staffing, scheduling, safety/risk management, payroll, human resources, labor relations, budgets, quality management/ improvement. Ensures that the highest quality of care is provided that complies with the Nursing Practice Act, TJC, federal, state and local regulatory requirements, established departmental policies/procedures and standards, as well as with utilization and clinical/performance standards and measures. Evaluates/monitors and improves quality of service and utilization standards and responsible for coordinating/providing patient care that meets member, physician/provider, and internal clients' needs across the continuum of care. Investigates, recommends and implements/evaluates processes/practices to improve systems and patient care. Monitors, improves and evaluates the performance of assigned staff; develops staff; counsels staff regarding performance issues in collaboration with ED Director. Investigates and resolves patient/family/member concerns regarding patient care and service quality. Qualifications The ideal Nurse Supervisor candidate is someone able to maintain effective communication with patients, staff and physicians; and ensure appropriate protocols with procedures and customer satisfaction. With the following qualifications- BSN or BA/BS in healthcare or closely related field (preferred). Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current/valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, ACLS, TNCC, PALS and/or ENPC must be obtained within 6 months of hire Minimum of 2 years of ED work experience req Job Posted by ApplicantPro
