The Waunakee Community School District is seeking a Middle School Principal to begin July 1, 2020. The principal assumes primary responsibility for the vision, annual educational goals which reflect the educational objectives of the District, organization, administration, and supervision of the Middle School; development and maintenance of constructive relationships and lines of communication with staff, students, parents/guardians, and community members, and initiation and implementation of procedures and activities that will provide each student with the opportunity for optimum learning. The Middle School Principal reports to the District Administrator.Waunakee Community School District is a growing district that serves over 4,300 students ranging from four-year old kindergarten through high school. Our students are amazing people whose talents shine every year in the classroom, within performances, in the community, and in the vast arena of co-curricular opportunities. The Vision for the Waunakee Community School District is to be a collaborative learning community that works with students, staff, families, and the community to ensure that every student is ready for college and career; through a focus on data, research based best practices, and engagement with students to be active partners in their learning. We take this vision very seriously and utilize it as a primary guide to our strategic planning framework. WCSD believes in Professional Learning Communities and uses the framework to serve our students. At Waunakee Community School District we value our diversity in all forms, and are actively working to create a safe and inclusive school community for everyone.Our Middle School offers a comprehensive curriculum for grades 7-8 that includes required core content courses plus a wide variety of elective classes including World Languages (Spanish, French, and Mandarin Chinese), Agriculture, Art, Music, Business, and Technology/Engineering. Our student academic performance scores consistently rank near the top in Dane County and in Wisconsin. Approximately 90% of WCSD students pursue post-secondary education.In addition to our strong academic focus, many of our students participate in numerous co- curricular and athletic opportunities including 16 clubs and activities, performance groups, 10 school-based, boys and girls sports, and music activities.WCSD supports the growth of the whole student through equitable, culturally-responsive curriculum, instruction, and learning opportunities for the diverse needs of every student. The school community is positive, and intellectually and emotionally safe.We are fortunate to have highly qualified and dedicated educators in our schools. Over 43% of our district's teachers hold Master's Degrees. We currently have eight teachers who have won the Kohl Fellowship, which is awarded to teachers for their leadership and service within and outside the classroom. Twelve teachers hold National Board Certification, which is an advanced teaching credential, designed to recognize effective and accomplished teachers who meet high standards. Our district currently employs 580 staff members. This includes a 41-member administrative team, 337 teachers, and 202 support staff. As student enrollment grows, our staff continues to grow. Essential Functions: Leadership : Set educational goals and define teacher roles which reflect the educational objectives of the District. Delegate responsibilities and authority to competent staff. Assign appropriate responsibilities, authority to the Assistant Principal Communicate his/her own philosophies and plans. Become aware of and anticipate changes in the community, educational fields, and in the school. Make a positive impact in the development of District and school philosophies, objectives and methods. Develop systems for describing faculty responsibilities and appraising their performances in accordance with District policies. Arrange a technique for obtaining feedback on his/her own performance from staff. Develop, with his/her staff, annual building goals and objectives. Human Relations: Establish and maintain constructive relationships with all staff and community members of the Waunakee Community School District. Cooperate with others in a team effort. Develop/maintain clear rules, well-defined channels of communication, and expected relationships between Principal, students, parents/guardians, and faculty. Resolve conflict for beneficial changes. Involve parents/guardians, teachers, and students in gathering information and communicating school policy, programs and practices. Curriculum and Student Activities: Initiate and implement procedures and activities that will improve the educational experience of all students Encourage and support student activities Establish ways and means for parent involvement and participation in school programs Human Resources: Recommend selection and assignment of school staff members Supervise and evaluate teachers Supervise and evaluate Assistant Principal and members of the classified staff assigned to the school Provide leadership and direction for improved teaching practices School Management: Develop and control the instructional category of the school budget Carry out District policy External Relations : Serve as liaison to outside groups Participate in personal and professional growth Job Requirements: Certification as required by the State of Wisconsin Prior successful teaching experience 5 years of successful administrative experience Strong knowledge and experience in curriculum and instruction Strong passion for working with students in grades 7-8 Any other qualifications the Board of Education may deem necessary or desirable Job Information: Entry Level: No Job Type: Full-Time Min Education: Master's Degree Min Experience: 5 years Location: Waunakee, Wisconsin, 53597, United States Position Title: Middle School Principal Company Name: Waunakee Community School District Job Function: Principal recblid 6z9ea6juftybetn5ligkr274zm6k6n Master's Degree
