16355BRPharmacist (Part-time)Watkins Health ServicesPosition Overview Work Schedule: This is a part-time position at 30 hours per week. Work hours will fall between Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with rotating Saturday afternoons.This is a professional position involving the practice of pharmacy. Duties are performed in accordance with (1) established professional standards of pharmacy practice and ethics, (2) administrative policies and rules of the Watkins Health Service, and (3) responsibilities assigned by the Pharmacist In Charge. Within this framework, the duties are carried out with latitude for independent professional judgment and action.The incumbent in this position will see, hear and possibly have access to confidential information that must be handled in accordance with all relevant state and federal laws and University policies and procedures regarding its use and disclosure. This position is also authorized to review, create and process patient information and/or data in accordance with established procedures in the performance of job duties.WHS utilizes computer technology in all aspects of its operations, including an electronic health record system. The incumbent must become familiar with and be able to use the appropriate computer hardware and software programs associated with this position. The incumbent must become familiar with and adhere to the Watkins Health Services Customer Experience Plan to ensure appropriate interaction and positive outcomes with both internal and external customers.Watkins Health Services is a unit in Student Affairs.Job Description 70% Compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with established standards of pharmacy practice, federal/state statutes and regulations, and Watkins Health Services policy and rules. Provides appropriate information to patients, physicians, and other professional staff about medications including (but not limited to) dosage, precautions, warnings, etc. Communicates with patients and staff about issues pertaining to departmental policy. Checks and maintains supplies for Watkins Health Services emergency cabinets and nursing stations and monitors for expiration dates on a regular basis. Monitors refrigerator/freezer temperatures on a daily basis. Maintains records of all prescriptions and keeps such records as required by federal and state laws and regulations. Prices medications and computes prescription charges according to guidelines. 30% Keeps informed of advances in the professional field, conducts individual study, and participates in programs of continuing professional education in order to maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to carry out the assigned responsibilities. Participates in the work of Watkins Health Services committees and helps in the training of staff members. Assists in the on-the-job training and supervision of Pharmacy School Interns. Assumes other responsibilities as requested by the Pharmacist in Charge. Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures. Assists in the implementation of appropriate departmental quality control and safety programs. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited college or university. Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Kansas or the ability to obtain. Current or able to obtain personal professional liability insurance in the State of Kansas prior to start of work. Current CPR certification or within 6 weeks of hire. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Health Center pharmacy policy and procedure as demonstrated in application materials. Effective leadership skills as demonstrated in application materials. Licensed preceptor in the State of Kansas. Experience working with people of varying backgrounds, goals, and philosophies. Experience in computer applications in the pharmacy setting. Oral and written communication skills as demonstrated in application materials. Experience or ability to supervise and instruct personnel.
