The UF CaRE 2 Health Equity Center, an NIH/National Cancer Institute funded Center at the University of Florida, is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Community Health Educator (CHE). The CHE will join a team of program directors, board members, investigators, staff, trainees, community leaders and other stakeholders across three institutions to address cancer health disparities in Black and Latino populations. The successful candidate will be well organized and an efficient communicator who can ensure that Center’s Community Outreach Core (COC) can meet its specific aims. The individual will also be responsible for developing and delivering progress reports and presentations for project milestones under the supervision of the COC director. The individual will perform related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions of the position, including operations, and administrative tasks.This position is based in Orlando and requires significant travels, especially to/in Duval and Alachua Counties. Guided by the NIH/National Cancer Institute materials, the CHE is expected to engage and educate ethnically diverse Blacks and Hispanics across the cancer care continuum, including cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and advocacy. S/he will also work closely with core and project leaders to disseminate the results of cancer research and training efforts within the Center. This is a full-time position for 40 hours per week. Travel is required.A successful candidate must have the following attributes: Exhibits good organizational and management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to discuss complex medical and research terminology in an accessible manner for the general public’s consumption Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary environment. Ability to comply with all privacy laws and institutional board protocols, including the protection of private health information and research data. Ability to work independently. Bachelors’ Degree in the area of health, behavioral or social sciences is preferred. An individual with an associate degree in any of these areas and at least 3 years’ experience in relevant position will be considered. The following attributes are strongly preferred: Bilingual (English and Spanish and/or Creole). Community outreach and education experience. Health event organization and coordination experience.
