Junior Videographer

Job Description: The Junior Videographer will join a creative team of in-house marketing experts who are responsible for defining, elevating and protecting the brand identity of Southern Utah University. This position will have the opportunity to create relevant and engaging content that supports the reputation and recruitment objectives. Projects range in scope from event coverage, faculty highlights, student stories, motion graphics and digital animated ads. This position will work with the entire office to translate ideas and concepts into finished videos for distribution to the web, social, mobile and TV. Duties and Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with the creative team to understand project scope, objective, audience and voice. Work closely with marketing team and/or project director to create storyboards, determine content and format of productions, and coordinate production logistics. Conduct interviews with students, staff, faculty, alumni and campus visitors and ensures that valuable sound bites are captured. Follow and keep current on design and trends in video, motion graphics, and branding. Handle multiple projects simultaneously and be flexible when priorities shift. Create motion graphic templates. Be available to shoot video and edit when University Videographer is unavailable. Follow and maintain the University's Brand Map in all work. Maintain effective relationships with departments to facilitate smooth production of projects. Work overtime, evening, holidays or weekend hours in order to complete assignments. Maintains all equipment in proper working order including troubleshooting and minor repairs as necessary. Attends meetings and offers development and production insight based on requests. Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a film production, broadcast, journalism, or a related field from an accredited university or college, or a relevant industry certification. 2 - 4 years of professional experience. Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe After Effects, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Bridge, Lightroom and Google Suite. Ready to learn new tools, software and trends as needed. Strong typography skills. Experience with motion graphics and animation (preferred). Necessary to be able to multitask and meet deadlines. Must be able to adapt to change, take initiative, and travel when needed. Strong editorial and proofreading skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with diverse audiences (students, faculty, staff, alumni and colleagues).
