About the role: As a Physical Education Teacher at Millington Municipal Schools , teachers must be able to design and organize numerous daily activities to keep students of all abilities active and excited about sports and their overall health. Your dynamic personality and interpersonal communication skills will be an asset to the position. Physical education teachers may also be asked to assist with coaching and extra-curricular activities like football, basketball, softball, baseball, track and field, and other sports programs . Responsibilities: Establish a standard of classroom behavior and maintain classroom management in and outside of the school. Create lesson plans and sports-related activities for students of all physical abilities Monitor student involvement and physical stamina and abilities Organize team activities to promote student cooperation and problem-solving Adhere to district and school curriculum pacing and standards Initiate and maintain communications with parents and guardians Maintain and care for sports equipment Regularly communicate with peers and administration about student needs and curriculum Act as a mentor and motivator for all students Take roll and monitor student absences and tardies Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and endorsement in the grade/subject taught with a valid Tennessee certificate. Governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated and the collective bargaining agreement. Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position. Skills and Competencies: Ability to create an educational environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and needs of the students. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students, parents, and colleagues. Ability to plan curriculum and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of students. Strong classroom management skills and ability to establish a standard of classroom behaviors. Commitment to continuous improvement and ongoing professional development. FLSA Status: Exempt.
