JOB DESCRIPTIONNorthcoast Children's ServicesFACILITIES SUPERVISORUnder the supervision of the Operations Director, the Facilities Supervisor plans, coordinates, participates in and supervises the safety and maintenance of Northcoast Children's Services sites in Humboldt and Del Norte counties. Approximately 50% of the time is spent in the field performing maintenance and repair with the balance of the time in the office managing preventative maintenance & record keeping systems and supervising NCS facilities staff. This is an hourly position and member of the NCS management team.KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Ensure that sites are safe and free of structural and non-structural hazards and are maintained in good condition. At all times, ensure site safety for enrolled children and families, NCS staff and visitors.2. Perform general construction and repair as needed (i.e. plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work for minor additions, roof repairs, fencing, gates, cabinet installation, and installation of play equipment).3. Assists the Operations Director in establishing facility priorities including deferred maintenance and in facilities budget planning & management, development, monitoring, record keeping, and reporting.4. Develop, prioritize, and manage preventative maintenance & repair schedules, grounds keeping, custodial services, and long-range maintenance plans for all NCS sites. Perform regular site visits to monitor safety & facility needs. Monitor completion of regularly scheduled safety check systems & any needed follow up for all sites.5. Coordinate the planning, procurement, contract negotiation, construction, inspection, and completion of NCS facilities projects under the supervision and guidance of the Operations Director. Request bids and prepare bid packets for the Board of Directors for proposed projects. Oversight of contracts awarded for all NCS facilities projects.6. Maintain required facilities & equipment records including prevailing wage records to meet Davis-Bacon and state prevailing wage requirements.7. Oversee NCS fleet of vehicles including scheduling regular service and repair, performing periodic safety inspections and recommending to the Operations Director when vehicles should be replaced or no longer operated.8. Participate on Emergency Procedures and Safety Committee. Oversee & manage Northcoast Children's Services site security, fire safety, pest management, and waste management plans and systems. Serve as the NCS Integrated Pest Management Coordinator. Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets.9. Maintain and update the NCS work order system and facilities records to reflect the status of all facilities & projects. Train staff in the work order system and other site and worker safety issues. Prioritize staff requests for services & schedule employees or contractors to respond efficiently.10. Promote high quality interpersonal communication and teamwork with NCS staff, management, community partners, school personnel, and community helpers. Monitor and facilitate communications with school districts and other NCS site landowners for construction and maintenance work and maintain ongoing communication with contractors serving NCS.11. Demonstrate self-awareness, self-regulation and professionalism. Utilize those skills and NCS performance reviews and ongoing feedback to make and follow up on plans for professional development.12. Maintain a working knowledge of & follow NCS Personnel Policies, NCS Policies and Procedures, and applicable State and Federal regulations including Community Care Licensing & Head Start Performance Standards.13. Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:1. AA degree preferred.2. Experience meeting multiple ongoing deadlines, solving problems and making decisions in an effective, respectful, and calm manner.3. Experience in prioritizing, organizing, and scheduling complex tasks.4. Three years' experience in direct supervision of individual team members, including carrying out performance reviews, and promoting trust and effective team development.5. Five years' experience with general construction, repair and routine maintenance or equivalent work history demonstrating general construction knowledge and experience.6. Two years of project management that demonstrates the ability to maintain multiple facilities across a large geographic region.7. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and computer tracking systems to assure monitoring of multiple tasks.8. Experience or knowledge of state and/or federal prevailing wage requirements9. Possession of:· valid driver's license· evidence of current automobile liability insurance· good driving record· reliable vehicle available to use during working hours.Physical Requirements1. Must successfully complete a health screening and provide proof of the absence of TB no later than 7 days following the date of hire.2. Ability to perform the physical labor required of this position including but not limited to the ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.Health & Safety Training Requirements1. Must have a current Criminal Record Clearance with current Child Abuse Index Check on file with Community Care Licensing or provide fingerprints and a Child Abuse Index Check prior to the first day of work in order to obtain a Criminal Record Clearance from the Department of Justice.
