Job Description:The Theater Division at Boston Conservatory at Berklee is in search of a full-time faculty member to teach various studio-based musical theater performance courses within the B.F.A. Musical Theater program. Boston Conservatory at Berklee Theater Division is seeking a full-time musical theater performance faculty member. This is a nine-month position with renewable contract; initial appointment to begin September 2024. Compensation and rank are commensurate with education and professional experience. Job Description: The Theater Division at Boston Conservatory at Berklee is in search of a full-time faculty member to teach various studio-based musical theater performance courses within the B.F.A. Musical Theater program. We particularly welcome candidates with expertise in teaching acting through song, musical theater styles, and musical theater scene study. The ideal candidate will also bring experience in curriculum development, student recruitment, and community outreach. Highly desirable qualifications include prior professional experience as a musical theater performer on Broadway or LORT regional theater. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will have a history of helping students achieve a significant level of improvement in musical theater performance and will be committed to establishing a forward-thinking pedagogy for diverse, multifaceted theater artists. Faculty are expected to participate in teaching, professional and artistic service, and service to the institution, as well as participation in the life of the Theater Division. Candidates should be able to address questions regarding race and representation in contemporary actor training; and be advocates for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the classroom and the profession. Faculty are expected to participate in teaching, professional and artistic service, and service to the institution, as well as participation in the day-to-day life of the Theater Division. The Berklee Faculty Union, established in 1986, is a chapter of the American Federation of Teachers, Local 4412, AFT-MA, AFL-CIO. Qualifications: Minimum of master's degree in musical theater, acting, directing or preferred.Minimum of three teaching experience in a higher education settingProfessional experience as a musical theater performer (Broadway or LORT regional theater)Professional affiliations such as AEA, SAG, etc.Dedication to redefining the American theater canon regarding authenticity of racial, gender, ethnic, and sexual identityComprehensive knowledge of musical theater performance pedagogy, repertoire, styles and performance historySpecific knowledge of various acting training styles preferred.Experience developing curriculum preferredExperience participating in student recruitment preferred.
