The ideal candidate will work closely with inventors on new products, assist in identifying patentable inventions, and draft patent applications. They will also track the patent application process and respond to office actions from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The candidate must have a background in electrical engineering or biotechnology and at least 3 years of experience in patent law. Job Overview:Work closely with inventors on newly created productsAssist in identifying patentable inventionsResearch current patented technologies to support patentable workDraft patent applications with the assistance of the patent teamTrack the patent application process from initial application to granted patentConduct ability searches regularlySolve client challenges and respond to client needsRespond to office actions and correspond with the U.S. Patent and Trademark OfficeConsistently meet billable hour requirements Duties:Collaborate with inventors to understand new products and inventionsConduct research to identify patentable inventionsDraft patent applications under the guidance of the patent teamMonitor and track the patent application processConduct ability searches to assess the patentability of inventionsAddress client challenges and needs promptly and effectivelyRespond to office actions and communicate with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in science or engineeringMaster’s Degree or PhD desiredUSPTO Registration required3+ years of professional experience in patent lawBackground in electrical engineering or biotechnologyPrior experience working in patent law Skills:Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong analytical and research abilitiesAttention to detail and accuracyAbility to work independently and collaborativelyProficiency in drafting legal documentsKnowledge of patent law and proceduresFamiliarity with USPTO regulations and processes This leading law firm has a talented team of legal professionals who are dedicated to providing sophisticated legal advice and exceptional client service.
