Your opportunity: Reporting to the Director of Administration, the Financial Officer provides financial support to the department of Material Science Engineering by drafting financial reports, updating data into FIS, HRIS and supporting departmental payroll process. Your responsibilities will include: Recording detailed transactions for many accounts Coding financial information for processing in FIS and HRIS Checking that proper approvals are obtained prior to processing transactions including payroll Generating standard financial reports Obtaining required authorizations and signatures to process financial documents Maintaining filing system Handing sensitive and/or confidential information Identifying and resolving individual financial discrepancies Essential Qualifications: Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Knowledge of accounting principles will be considered an asset. Minimum two years of relevant experience including accounts receivable , payroll, FIS and HRIS or similar systems Experience applying and interpreting financial policies is required Experience handling confidential data and pulling reports from it Experience with processing accounts payable (e. .
