We are currently searching for a new, full-time member for our team for the position of: Aeronautical Engineer, Journeyman **U.S. Citizenship is REQUIRED** Job Summary: The Aeronautical Engineer, Journeyman, will play a critical role in ensuring the operational safety, security, and effectiveness of a range of aircraft systems. This position is responsible for performing disciplined engineering activities, maintaining mechanical systems integrity, monitoring airworthiness certification, and contributing to capability development activities. Additionally, for personnel assigned to AFLCMC/WLM, there is a requirement to work closely with the United Kingdom Ministry of Defense (UK MOD) and apply an understanding of UK Military Aviation Authority (MAA) regulations to support the UK C-17 Delivery Team (DT). Key Responsibilities: Assurance of Operational Safety, Security, and Effectiveness (OSS&E): Support the directorate in the performance of disciplined engineering activities to assure OSS&E for all products. Help support the mechanical systems integrity program. Maintain and update the critical safety item list. Monitor airworthiness certification for the aircraft. Capability Development: Participate in capability development activities. Produce or review products related to early planning, analysis, and systems engineering activities. Establish linkages between operational needs, system performance requirements, technology needs & opportunities, and potential lifecycle costs. Exploratory and Experimentation Projects: Participate in capability development activities related to exploratory or experimentation projects, such as RIF, Rapid Prototyping Program (RPP), SBIR, and Pitch Days. Contribute to the insertion of science and technology into the portfolio of a Program Executive Office (PEO). UK C-17 Delivery Team (AFLCMC/WLM): Apply an understanding of DoD and UK MOD engineering/scientific principles, processes, and procedures to improve the performance and sustainability of UK and Virtual Fleet weapon systems. Understand UK MAA regulations and their impacts on operations. Assist in changes introduced through MAA, Notification of Authorized Amendments (NAA), and prepare compliance evidence. Act as an interface between MAA and Boeing regarding organization Scheme Expositions compliance. Brief the status of MAA Regulatory Compliance at meetings and reviews. Perform an audit schedule for all DT Safety Documents and Work Instructions. Review UK Chief of Material (Air) Policy Instructions (CoMPI) and develop or amend compliance evidence. Support annual audits by the DT's Independent Safety Advisor and ad hoc audits initiated by the MAA. Manage the DT Hermes Regulatory Compliance database, updating and amending compliance evidence. Review MAA regulatory updates and provide feedback as necessary. Facilitate 3rd party audits of Safety Documents and Work Instructions. Review MOD Defense Airworthiness Team Information Notes (DATIN) and brief the content to the DT Safety manager. Qualifications: BA/BS degree in an ABET-accredited engineering discipline (http://www.abet.org). Ten (10) years of functional area experience, 3 of which must be with the DoD Knowledge of aeronautics and avionics engineering in support of avionics subsystem definition, development, integration, and verification methods Apply an understanding of DoD, AF, and common engineering/scientific principles, processes, and procedures to improve the performance and sustainability of existing and future AF and joint service weapon systems. U.S. Citizenship required; Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Experience in aeronautical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related fields. Familiarity with aerospace regulations, safety standards, and airworthiness certification. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks effectively. Preferred Qualifications Possess knowledge of Airworthiness Knowledge of UK MOD regulations is highly desirable for AFLCMC/WLM personnel. Professional engineering certification (PE) is a plus.
