Alternatively, this position can be based in Vernon Hills, IL. This is an onsite position with flexibility to work from home. Summary The Senior Compensation and Benefits Specialist is responsible for managing, planning and administering the Company’s employee benefits programs, including health, life, disability, 401k, FSA, leave management, workers’ compensation and compensation programs. This person will also be the wellness coordinator. The ideal candidate: has 10+ years of high level experience and expertise in benefits and knows how benefit plans work inside and out can plan and manage open enrollment, legal compliance (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, etc.), and benefit-related training and communications has experience proactively managing various leave programs, including workers’ compensation, FMLA and disability is comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy is a team player, willing to pitch in as needed enjoys working with employees to answer questions and solve problems has experience with compensation surveys, pay grades and benchmarking has some background in basic HR administration exhibits a passion for improving the health and wellness of employees For the right candidate, this position can develop into a manager position. Assist Director of HR in designing benefits programs, including recommending changes to keep pace with the market, comply with legal obligations, and control costs. Coordinate wellness program. Daily processing of benefits, including proper handling of enrollments, terminations, changes, leaves, COBRA, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, and assist as needed with any rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, and hardships. Assist in administering compensation program, including salary surveys and pay grade maintenance. Manage workers’ compensation claims and reporting. Coordinate FSA and health plan compliance testing and assist/support corporate accounting with 401(k) compliance testing. Primary day-to-day contact for all carriers and vendors. Member of 401(k) Plan Sponsor committee. Coordinate and plan open enrollment and special enrollment processes. Assist employees and HR with prompt resolution of benefit-related questions and issues. Coordinate benefit training and communications for HR and employees. Responsible for timely producing and distributing all ERISA-required notices, summary plan descriptions and other plan documents or notices. Responsible for benefit-related reporting and filings, including 1095 and 5500 forms. Verify and process invoices for timely payment monthly. Manage and resolve issues with carriers and benefits-related vendors. Maintain all benefit-related information systems. Assist in all wellness-related activities. Experience in payroll is a plus. Qualifications, Education and Experience Bachelors’ degree, preferably in human resource management or related field. At least 10 years of benefits administration experience. Other Skills & Abilities Highest level of confidentiality, integrity, honesty, and professionalism Knowledge of all relevant federal and state regulations affecting benefit plans (including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, and Social Security and DOL requirements) Proficiency with HR/benefit information systems Excellent administrative skills Excellent writing skills Excellent organizational skills Excellent attention to detail Excellent interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication.
