BARGAINING UNIT / LEVEL: Supervisory - Level 08 SALARY RANGE: $77,480 - $85,301 annually DOQ GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the supervision of the District Maintenance Manager, work activities primarily involve the performance and supervision of activities in maintaining a regulation golf course including turf maintenance, tree planting and care, facility maintenance and operation of golf course maintenance equipment. May maintain buildings and all other duties required in park maintenance as assigned by proper personnel. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The list below is intended to describe the general nature of duties only. Employee shall perform other duties as assigned. Supervise, schedule and coordinate activities of employees engaged in maintenance activities. Hire, train, and supervise all full-time, provisional and seasonal maintenance employees. Complete annual performance evaluations on all assigned employees. Assist in preparation and administration of annual maintenance budget. Maintain cool-season grasses. Identify turf grass and turf disease and implement control procedures. Identify insects and implement control procedures in relation to turf. Develop and implement a disease and insect prevention program. Maintain, operate, and repair all golf course equipment. Maintain and repair irrigation system. Mix and prepare spray solutions. Determine amount of water and fertilizer to sustain healthy turf. Inspect turf to designate height and frequency of mowing. Maintain record of types, amounts, and frequency of chemical applications. Perform proper mowing practices. Maintain buildings and all other duties required in park maintenance. Supervise and perform all winter maintenance functions including snow removal and cross-country ski trail maintenance. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: May serve on committees as requested such as safety, strategic planning, etc. May assist park operations with special events. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in turf grass management or equivalent i.e. horticulture, management etc., from an accredited university required. Bachelor’s preferred. Two years of supervisory and five years of experience in turf grass maintenance or related field, of which at least two years is in golf course maintenance. Experience in operating golf course maintenance equipment safely and efficiently. Knowledge and experience in materials, tools, practices and methods of golf course maintenance. Ability to read and understand blueprint plans. Knowledge of work hazards, preventive safety checks and applicable OSHA/MI-OSHA regulations. Knowledge of the laws and ordinances regulating the operation of vehicles. Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Ability to operate listed tools and equipment. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must have the ability to utilize telephone, radio equipment, and computer. Ability to supervise employees. Must be available via phone to respond to on-call issues that require immediate resolution. Possession of Pesticide Applicator License (PAL), including core and categories 3A, 3B and 6 or ability to obtain within 6 months of position start date. Possession of a Michigan Commercial Driver License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 1 year of position start date. Requires working varied hours depending upon park demands. Must be available to work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. May be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs. Ability to perform essential duties. Powered by JazzHR
