Position Overview Manages purchasing specific direct material and assigned commodities. Develops supplier base. Work involves administrative operations where independent judgment is used and decisions are made within general policies, procedures, and/or specifications. High technical knowledge. Ability to interface and collaborate with both internal and external engineering, sales and supply chain teams. Provide leadership oversight and direction in unusual situations. Localize and develop new suppliers. Duties and Responsibilities: Defines the commodity strategy regularly by supplier (strategic, growth, challenger, decrease, phase-out, immediate action). Analyze the markets and identify new potential suppliers with focus on localization. Development of new suppliers with cross-functional support. Negotiates pricing, terms and annual contracts for production material with supply base. Prepares and reviews contracts, bid proposals and supplier agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of terms. Manages, and monitors procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements. Processes purchasing awards and required purchasing documentation. Reviewing purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy and procedures. Monitors supplier performance and develops improvement strategies. Supports and provides analyzes and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability. Works with international commodity buyers to accomplish company goals. Assists in forecasting of annual material and tooling budgets. Assists in coordination and management of cost reduction activities related to supplier base. Works with Cost Estimators to achieve best price and price reductions. Maintains open communication between internal departments, management, and suppliers. Serves as direct interface between suppliers, R&D, and assigned facility team members. Assist assigned facility with problem solving as it relates to supplier quality. Prepares and maintains data to support value added processes. Must be able to travel domestically and international as needed. Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner. Skills and Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business or equivalent with two to four years of related technical experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer and Technology Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of all common MS-office applications and SAP or similar systems. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, business journals or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
