Associate Teacher Organizational Background: Bridge Prep is a unique, mission driven public charter elementary school on Staten Island dedicated to providing a student-centered educational option for our students, many of whom have dyslexia or other language-based reading difficulties, and who are in need of additional supports in order to meet academic proficiency. Our academic offerings are rooted in our commitment to the Science of Reading and multisensory instruction approaches which provide all students with an academic experience focused on academic and personal growth through targeted support. All our staff members share the same belief that all students can learn, regardless of their differing learning styles or academic ability, if they are provided with the necessary and appropriate learning environment. Position Description: Bridge Prep is seeking full-time Associate Teachers for those who are new, transitioning, or looking to return to the field of education, and are passionate about providing students with an excellent education. Our Associate Teachers are provided extensive Professional Learning opportunities that will allow them to develop their teaching craft, rapidly increase their impact and potentially develop a path to a lead teaching position. Associate Teachers at Bridge Prep will : Collaborate with lead teachers to plan and facilitate engaging lessons aligning to NY State Standards. Support and assist lead teachers with instruction, behavior management, and administrative duties to create and maintain a supportive and inquiry-based learning environment for students. Engage in all Professional Learning opportunities to improve knowledge and skills with the purpose of increasing student achievement and social emotional skills by mastering Bridge Prep’s curriculum, instructional methods, and identify areas of growth. Coordinate and facilitate daily lunch and recess activities. Reporting: This is a full time position reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning (DTL). Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree. Currently pursuing a New York State (or other state) elementary school teaching certification. A minimum of 2 years of experience working with diverse learners. Excellent writing, communication, and relationship-building skills. Be self-reflective and open to feedback, with the ambition and desire to grow one's practice. Have an entrepreneurial spirit, embracing the opportunity for creativity and hard work. Display a positive, solutions-oriented attitude and drive for excellence and show eagerness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
