The City of Pflugerville is seeking its next People and Culture Assistant Director to join our team! The Assistant Director of People and Culture (P+C) is responsible for assisting the P+C Director in overseeing all aspects of the Human Resources (HR) functions within the City of Pflugerville. This position performs and oversees highly advanced HR professional work and functions including, but not limited to, risk management and safety, compensation and benefits, recruiting and hiring, records management, budgeting, and compliance with labor laws and regulations. Essential duties and responsibilities: Comprehensive understanding of Human Resources federal and state laws and regulations. Knowledge of the City of Pflugerville's PFIRST Core Values. Experience administering HR programs, processes, policies, and procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Sound judgment and decision-making skills to make well-informed and timely decisions in complex and ambiguous situations. Strong leadership and skills to lead and motivate teams, drive City initiatives, and foster a positive and inclusive work environment. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with employees at all levels of the organization. Ability to research and analyze complex HR-related issues, identify root causes, and develop creative and practical solutions to address them. Proficiency in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and other HR technology platforms used for recruitment, performance management, payroll, and employee data management. Experience with Tyler Munis and NeoGov is preferred. High ethical standards and integrity to maintain objectivity; uphold confidentiality, fairness, and compliance with legal and ethical standards in all HR practices and decisions. Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment; willingness to embrace new technologies and processes. Proficiency with personal compute r , and standard soft w are applications, including Windows, MS Office applications, and other standard office applications. Qualifications and Skill Requirements: Formal Education: Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field. Relatable Work Experience: Seven (7) years of progressive experience in Human Resources management with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial role. Training, Licenses, or Certifications: HR Preferred Certifications: HRCI-PHR, SHRM-CP, HRCI SPHR. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree. Experience in state or municipal government. Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is define as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
