The Microsoft Renewable Energy team is charged with procuring carbon-free energy to meet its sustainability commitments - 100% renewable energy by 2025 and100/100/0 by 2030. We are seeking a passionate and creative originator to join our team as a Principal Renewable Energy Program Manager.You will be responsible for sourcing, negotiation, and managing renewable energy contracts for Microsoft. You will join an existing team that procures energy from new renewable energy projects around the globe via long-term PPAs for our Scope 2 and Scope 3 goals. You will have demonstrated prior experience and knowledge of renewable energy procurement with an emphasis on corporate procurement, wholesale energy markets, large-scale energy portfolio management, finance, and energy policy.Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 50%. Qualifications: Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, Sustainability or related field AND 8+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, renewable energy law, or relevant sales-related roles OR Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, Sustainability or related field AND 6+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, renewable energy law or relevant sales-related roles OR equivalent experience. 8+ years of experience in wholesale and retail power markets. 5+ years of experience in renewable energy procurement, negotiations, and origination. Other Requirements Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications Track record of leading negotiations for contractual agreements, including PPAs, attribute-only and other wholesale power structured products Demonstrated experience building and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships Understand deal valuation results, quantitative modeling and forecasting for commodity markets, and portfolio risk management Experience in corporate energy procurement Experience in data center energy procurement Demonstrated experience applying growth mindset Sourcing Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation. Considers all relevant elements of business requirements (e.g., risk management, project maturity, supplier relationship, technology adoption) and partners with cross-functional teams to develop sourcing strategies. Sourcing expertise will influence procurement decisions to align with Microsoft's global sustainability goals. Sourcing Operations Evaluates project viability and development progress, market conditions, and sourcing data to inform decision making that enables Microsoft to address its Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions. Identifies and shares best practices for leveraging experience, data and analytics to continuously improve decision-making. Supplier Management Leads contract and price negotiation activities and strategies for renewable energy PPAs and other carbon-free electricity procurement transactions, ensuring that price, capacity, and business needs are met in a risk-mitigated manner for individual projects and the overall portfolio. Where appropriate, ensures compliance with Microsoft's requirements for cross functional engagements with suppliers.Serves as one of Microsoft's central points of contact for suppliers for renewable energy supply, leads the enablement and development of new suppliers to help Microsoft scale renewable energy procurement in global markets, and maintain productive relationships with existing suppliers. Program Management Manages internal cross-functional partnerships, monitors and resolves internal partner's issues without additionalescalation, influences near-term sourcing decisions by discussing details and implications (e.g., tradeoffs, pricing), andseeks to align investments with supply needs to ensure delivery of renewable energy supply as contracted.Manages internal cross-functional partnerships, defines processes and governance for managing supplier partnerships,shares best practices and drives opportunities to improve upon process, influences near- and long-term sourcingdecisions by discussing details and implications (e.g., tradeoffs, pricing), seeks to align investments with long-term supplyneeds to ensure delivery of renewable energy supply as contracted, provides support to team to resolve supply issues andensure continuity of supply in alignment with achieving the company's goals.Other Embody our Culture and Values Requisition #: 1715455pca3lyuhf
