About the Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA): The Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) was established as a separate state agency by the Legislature in 2005. Administratively, ISDA reports to the Lt. Governor, who also serves as Indiana's Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. Major responsibilities include advocacy for Indiana agriculture at the local, state, and federal levels, managing soil conservation programs, promoting economic development and agricultural innovation, serving as a regulatory ombudsman for agricultural businesses, and licensing grain firms throughout the state. Role Overview: The incumbent of this position will serve as the Deputy Director for the Indiana FFA Association within the Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) and work with the Director of the Indiana FFA Association in providing statewide management and leadership for the Indiana FFA Association. This position will serve the 223 chapters and more than 14,000 members of the Indiana FFA Association. This position and the Director will work extensively to develop and enhance the organizations' budgets, goals, communication strategies, recruitment participation strategies, promotional events, and communication with Indiana FFA Advisors and members. The ideal candidate should have a bachelors degree in an agricultural field of study, experience in agricultural education, three (3) years or more teaching experience, and experience as a local FFA advisor preferred. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at0.00but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: :Establish and monitor program objectives, KPIs, and actions to achieve them.:Direct, plan, or implement policies, objectives, or activities of organizations or businesses to ensure continuing operations, or to increase productivity.:Interpret and explain policies, rules, regulations, or laws to organizations, government or corporate officials, or individuals.:Recommend and implement corrective action plans to solve program problems.:Prepare reports for approval, including those for funding or implementation of services.:Direct or coordinate the financial or budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, or increase efficiency in the specified program.:Ensure program requirements meet federal and state policies and grants compliance.:Develop, train employees or agency consultants on program requirements and usage.:Coordinate and deliver communication plans and communications.:Serve on boards of directors and management committees.:Serve on management committees or other governing boards.:Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.:Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.
