Carpenter Craftsman

We are looking for a capable and skilled carpenter to join our team. You'll take direction from the project manager to help construct and maintain strong and long-lasting buildings and products. You are great at reading blueprints and have excellent hand dexterity, with a can-do attitude. Responsibilities: --- Review blueprints and sketches to understand requirements --- Build door and window frames, stairways, rafters, and partitions --- Ensure roofing, floorings, and drywall are compatible and level --- Sculpt and piece together siding, drywall, kitchen cabinets, and furniture --- Examine and repair structures Essential Duties --- Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge --- Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment --- Verify the trueness of structure --- Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws --- Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layouts and determine the dimensions and materials required --- Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue --- Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power tools --- Erect scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level --- Install horizontal and vertical studs to frames to attach wallboards --- Cutting tidy openings into boards for electrical outlets, vents, and fixtures --- Install framing and decorative trim for windows, doorways, and vents --- Supervise general construction workers, when required --- Assist supervisors with structural design, planning, layout, and installation --- Cleaning and preparing construction sites --- Loading and unloading materials and equipment --- Ensure tasks are completed to deadlines --- Perform additional assignments per the supervisor's direction Secondary Duties --- Assist Superintendents and/or Project Management with the selection and purchase of lumber or other required materials --- Maintain records, document actions, and present written progress reports. --- Assist the Superintendent and/or Project Management with arranging subcontractors to deal with special areas, such as heating or electrical wiring work --- Attend meetings and workshops --- Perform other job-related duties, as required Supervisory Responsibilities --- Assist Superintendents/Foremen with leading and training laborers, apprentices, and new hires Qualifications: --- Must have valid driver's license --- Excellent physical condition and dexterity --- We prefer if you have a high school diploma or GED --- Successfully completed formal carpentry apprenticeship --- Precise measuring and math skills are required Requirements: --- Own power tools --- Cell phone with internet --- Personal protection, steel-toed boots, sound and dust protection --- Reliable transportation --- Works well in a small team environment and can take directions --- Follows all OSHA and company safety requirements without question --- Follows all company operations standards, policies and processes --- Detail-oriented and shows pride in their work --- Positive outlook even when challenged with physically or mentally demanding situations --- Willing to ask questions if uncertain --- Candidate needs to be organized Education --- This position requires some high school education and 4 years to 5 years of previous experience --- A high school diploma (or GED or high school equivalence certificate) is preferred While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: --- Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear --- Occasionally exposed to sit; taste or smell The employee must: --- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds --- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds --- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include: --- Close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to adjust focus About Company: Coastal View Construction, we pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional customer experience by adhering to our guiding principles.
